About VIT Master’s Entrance Examination (VITMEE) for M.Sc. Programmes

The M.Sc. (2 Year) programs at Vellore Institute of Technology is available in various disciplines, including Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI & ML) and Data Science. Admission is based on the rank obtained in the VITMEE 2026.
Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Examination (VITMEE) is conducted for admission to postgraduate engineering programmes in VIT group of Institutions. VITMEE will be conducted on 28th April 2026 and 03rd May 2026 at designated centres across India. The duration of the examination will be 2 hours. Candidates can appear only once for VITMEE-2026. All the questions will be Multiple Choice Questions and one mark for the right answer and zero for the wrong answer. There is no negative marking for wrong answers. Those who score '0' in total will be declared as 'Not qualified' and will not be eligible to participate in the counselling process. The Computer-Based Test (CBT) objective question Paper consists of 100 questions with a maximum of 100 marks. Of these, 80 will be from the chosen technical subject and 20 will be from English communication. The question paper will be in English only.

  1. Payment cost of Rs.1200/- should be paid through Netbanking /Credit card/Debit card/Paytm.
  2. Application cost is non-refundable

Photo & Signature Upload

  1. Passport size color photograph width(300 to 400 pixels) X Height (400 to 550 pixels) jpg / jpeg format with a maximum file size of 300 KB
  2. Signature of the candidate (Dimension: 6 cm (width) X 2 cm height) in jpg / jpeg format with a maximum file size of 300 KB.

Applicants need to upload the following mentioned documents on the application portal, subject to their availability within the specified time frame.

  1. Copy of the 10th, 12th Mark sheet.
  2. Mark Sheets of Qualifying Examination of all attempts (semester/year wise) and consolidated mark sheet (please ensure that you also enclose the reverse side of the mark sheet containing details)
  3. Copy of Community Certificate (For SC/ST Applicants)
  4. Copy of Nativity Certificate (For Applicants hailing from North Eastern States and Jammu & Kashmir/ Ladakh)
  5. Provisional Certificate / Degree Certificate (if available)
  6. Migration/ Transfer/ College Leaving Certificate (if available)

Eligibility

General Eligibility

NATIONALITY

• The applicants for admission must be Resident Indian National and must have pursued their graduation in regular, full time and formal education colleges located in India and abroad.

• NRI/Foreigners may use the applicationlink: https://admission.vit.ac.in/irapplicationpg/ Fees for the above programs is $3500 per year.

• The qualification criteria is relaxed by 10% i.e. 50% in UG degree for applicants belonging to SC/ST category and applicants hailing from Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh and the North-eastern States of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura.

• Applicants belonging to SC/ST category must fill in the proforma given in Appendix-II and have it attested by a competent authority (The list of authorities empowered for the same is given in Appendix-II).

• Applicants hailing from Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh and the North-eastern States of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Mani- pur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland

• Applicants from Open University / Correspondence mode are not eligible.

PROGRAMMES ELIGIBILITY
M.Sc. Data Science Under graduation in Mathematics / Computer Science /Computer Application/ Physics / Statistics / Data Science or UG Degree in Engineering or Technology in CSE/IT/ECE/EEE/E&I/ Mechanical/Civil with an 60% of marks (Inclusive of all Subjects) and should have studied Mathematics as one of the Subject in +2 level.
M.Sc. Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning The candidate must be a graduate from B.Sc. Mathematics /B.Sc. Statistics/B.Sc. (CS) / B.Sc. (DS) / B.Sc. (IT) / B.Sc. (ITM) / B.Sc. (IST)/BCA with 60% general candidate & 50% in aggregate for SC / ST. Mathematics at 12th level is a must subject.

Selection Criteria

• There is ENTRANCE EXAMINATION

• Candidates will be short-listed for online counselling on the basis of their performance in the VIT Master's Entrance VITMEE Examination (VITMEE) Rank.

• The shortlisted applicants will be called for online counselling

• Details regarding allotment, fee payment, issue of provisional admission letter will be communicated accordingly

• The eligibility criteria is relaxed by 10% in UG degree for applicants belonging to SC/ST and applicants hailing from Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh and the North Eastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura
