About The M.Sc. programme

The M.Sc. (2 Years) program at Vellore Institute of Technology is available in various disciplines, including Bio-Technology, Applied Microbiology, Bio-medical Genetics, Business Statistics, Physics and Chemistry. Admission is based on the marks obtained in the candidate’s undergraduate degree, with no entrance exam required. New User Registration

  1. Valid e-mail address and active mobile number are required.
  2. Enter all the relevant details carefully.
  3. An OTP will be sent to your Registered Indian Mobile Number for verification.
  4. Once OTP is validated, a password will be sent to your registered email address.

  1. Payment cost of Rs.600/- should be paid through Netbanking /Credit card/Debit card/Paytm.
  2. Application cost is non-refundable

Photo & Signature Upload

  1. Passport size color photograph width(300 to 400 pixels) X Height (400 to 550 pixels) jpg / jpeg format with a maximum file size of 300 KB
  2. Signature of the candidate (Dimension: 6 cm (width) X 2 cm height) in jpg / jpeg format with a maximum file size of 300 KB.

Applicants need to upload the following mentioned documents on the application portal, subject to their availability within the specified time frame.

  1. Copy of the 10th, 12th Mark sheet.
  2. Mark Sheets of Qualifying Examination of all attempts (semester/year wise) and consolidated mark sheet (please ensure that you also enclose the reverse side of the mark sheet containing details)
  3. Copy of Community Certificate (For SC/ST Applicants)
  4. Copy of Nativity Certificate (For Applicants hailing from North Eastern States and Jammu & Kashmir/ Ladakh)
  5. Provisional Certificate / Degree Certificate (if available)
  6. Migration/ Transfer/ College Leaving Certificate (if available)

General Eligibility

NATIONALITY

• The applicants for admission must be Resident Indian National and must have pursued their graduation in regular, full time and formal education colleges located in India and abroad.

• NRI/Foreigners may use the applicationlink: https://admission.vit.ac.in/irapplicationpg/ Fees for the above programs is $3500 per year.

• The qualification criteria is relaxed by 10% i.e. 50% in UG degree for applicants belonging to SC/ST category and applicants hailing from Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh and the North-eastern States of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura.

• Applicants belonging to SC/ST category must fill in the proforma given in Appendix-II and have it attested by a competent authority (The list of authorities empowered for the same is given in Appendix-II).

• Applicants hailing from Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh and the North-eastern States of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Mani- pur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland

• Applicants from Open University / Correspondence mode are not eligible.

M.Sc. Applied Microbiology B.Sc. degree from a recognized university in any branch of Biological Science that includes Botany / Zoology / Microbiology / Biochemistry/ Biotechnology / Nutrition (or) Home Science / Agricultural Science / Food Science/Life Science/ Applied Science/ Human Physiology/ Plant Biology / Biotechnology/Radiology and Imaging Technology/ Molecular Medicine/ Horticulture/ Blended Biology Science/ Virology / Immunology/Industrial Microbiology and Medicine/ UG Degree in Engineering & Technology in Biotechnology/Medical Biotechnology with an 60% of marks (Inclusive of all subjects). Double major and Triple major in Biological Science.
M.Sc. Biomedical Genetics (Optional specialization in Genetic Counselling)
M.Sc. Biotechnology
M.Sc. Business Statistics Under graduation in Mathematics / Statistics / Computer Science / Business administration / Commerce / Economics / Engineering with 60% marks (inclusive of all subjects) and should have studied Mathematics as one of the subject in +2 and degree level.
M.Sc. Chemistry (with specialization in Analytical / Inorganic / Organic / General Chemistry / Pharmaceutical Chemistry) B.Sc. degree in either Chemistry or Applied Chemistry or Applied Science from any recognized university with Physics or Mathematics/ Biology/Botany/Zoology as ancillary subjects with an 60% of marks (Inclusive of all subjects)
M.Sc. Physics B.Sc. (3 Years) from recognized University with Physics as one of the major subject & with minimum 60% marks (inclusive all subjects).

Selection Criteria

• There is NO ENTRANCE EXAMINATION

• Admission is through merit and on the basis of UG marks

• The shortlisted applicants will be called for online counselling

• Details regarding allotment, fee payment, issue of provisional admission letter will be communicated accordingly

• The eligibility criteria is relaxed by 10% in UG degree for applicants belonging to SC/ST and applicants hailing from Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh and the North Eastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura
