The study of agriculture is called agricultural science or agricultural technology. The field combines the natural and social sciences, along with economics, engineering and management (particularly natural resources management and business management) of biological systems to practice, development and understand the fields of agriculture and forestry. Being related to the field of Life & Biological Sciences, agricultural science is multidisciplinary and inter-related to Food Science & Technology. Agricultural Science uses the fundamentals of biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics and statistics to solve the problems of agriculture-food industry.

There is NO ENTRANCE EXAMINATION.
Applicants who have studied through regular, full-time, and formal education with English as one of the subjects are eligible to apply.
Students who have appeared for their 10+2 / HSC examination and are awaiting results are also eligible to apply, provided they submit their passing certificate by the notified date.
Nationality
The applicant should be a Resident Indian National.
Age Limit
Applicants born on or after 01.07.2006 are eligible to apply for B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture programme for the academic year 2026-27.
Applicants must submit the Age Proof (Birth certificate / Passport Copy) as proof of their age during counselling / admission. Failure to do so will result in disqualification from the admission process.
Qualifying Examination
Candidates applying for B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture programme should have either completed or shall be appearing in any one of the following qualifying examinations in 2026 :
The final examination of the 10+2 / HSC system, conducted by any recognized Central/ State Board, such as the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi; Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations or any other Board accepted by VIT as equivalent to 10+2 / HSC examination.
Intermediate or two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognized Board/ University.
General Certificate Education (GCE) examination
(London/Cambridge) at the Advanced (A) level.
For PCB : Physics & Biology - A Level/
Chemistry - A/AS Level and English - A/AS Level
High School Certificate Examination at the Advanced (A)
level of the Cambridge University or International
Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate
Office, Geneva.
For PCB :
Physics & Biology - HL, Chemistry - SL/HL.
Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with minimum of 5 subjects as recognized by central board.
Candidates who have appeared for multiple board examinations in the same academic year are not eligible.
Subject Eligibility
A pass with minimum overall aggregate of 60% in addition to an aggregate of 60% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology) (PCB) as subjects in the qualifying examination mentioned above.
In case of applicants belonging to SC/ST community or applicants hailing from Jammu and Kashmir/ Ladakh and the North Eastern States of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura, 10% relaxation is provided. Certificate to prove community / nativity should be produced at the time of counselling, failing which they will not be considered for admission.

Admission is through merit and based on qualifying examination
A Rank list will be prepared based on the eligibility criteria (PCB).
The shortlisted applicants will be called for counselling (online).
The fact that a candidate has been qualified and called for counselling does not guarantee admission to him / her. This depends upon the candidate rank and the availability of seats.
Candidates can download the provisional admission letter after full fee payment.
Provisional admission will be cancelled if the candidate does not meet the eligibility norms.
